Civil Engineer II

Position Title: Civil Engineer II - Nashville, TN

Position Description: 
The Civil Engineer II will independently performs a variety of civil engineering tasks for small projects or selected segments of large projects. Assists with the development of design approaches and concepts. Assists the project team in the production of projects on time, within budget, and consistent with industry standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

Begins assuming responsible charge for projects within the engineer’s control and expertise
Performs specific engineering studies and other design analyses using industry software
Assists senior technical staff in the development of construction documents as well as proposals and presentations to clients
Coordinates with contractors and clients to determine project scope; prepares scope and pricing documents for clients
Attends meetings with owners, clients, and/or contractors
Reviews submittals and drawings of contractors
Assists in the development of design approaches and concepts
Evaluates the work of peer design colleagues and provides feedback and/or corrections
Conducts project job site visits during construction to investigate field conditions and monitor progress based on design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes; provides field inspectors with technical guidance
Coordinates with local authorities, utilities, and municipalities to incorporate associated construction and government standards
Provides input, feedback, and updates on project schedules and plans work in accordance with the schedule
Assists with the preparation and implementation of the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for projects
Evaluates and recommends solutions to construction related engineering problems
Learns how to maintain client relationships and participates in business development activities with the current client base
Utilizes and assists less experienced staff in understanding company technical policies and procedures during the execution of projects for clients
Maintains a continued focus on keeping up with industry trends and changes with continued self-education and training

Education/Experience/Skills Required: 
An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college with eight years of related experience in discipline design and analysis
Registered Professional Engineer
Substantial experience and expertise in hydraulics and/or hydrology
Experience performing various studies
